As you may have noticed by now, the forums have been completely updated and reset. This has been done for several reasons, but here's to name a few:

[*] The old forums had a large number of "fake" and inactive users, which we did not want to keep around any more
[*] The old forums was using a custom theme and several patches that made upgrades and maintenance hard
[*] The forums and topics in the old forum was hard to get an overview of, and hard to follow. It did not invite to lively discussions.

We've severely reduced the number of forums and categories in the new forum, and it has been updated to a much newer phpBB version. We hope this will both increase response times and uptime for the forums, and make the communication flow better. It is also our hope that we will be able to better communicate with our users and developers, so please help us make that happen.

As a result of many circumstances, we've decided not to migrate old users over to the new forums. Please re-register on these new forums.

The old forums are still available at http://archive.forum.thebuggenie.org, but in a read-only state. If you want to follow-up a topic from there, please don't hesitate to copy it over here and continue the discussion in the new forums.

See you around!

Another thing is that when creating a topic usually subscription to new posts is activated by default, here the poster has to do it manually

Yes, I've noticed that - it seems like a change in defaults for phpBB. Not sure where or how to change it.

http://archive.forum.thebuggenie.org/ is still available.

Shouldn't it be in read only mode or at least, shown any kind of warning?

After searching in Google, I registered and posted a message in the old forum without noticing the "archive" in the url.
